Friend, There is nothing more important to me than hearing from the Iowans I represent. Whether we agree or disagree, you will always know where I stand on important issues, and I will continue working to make D.C. run more like the great state of Iowa! Next week, there will be three opportunities for us to connect. I will be holding a telephone town hall on Monday, July 29th and two in-person town halls on Wednesday, July 31st in Black Hawk and Dubuque counties. I hope to talk to you next week. Telephone Town Hall Monday, July 29th 6:30 PM CT Dial in: (833) 364-1469 Black Hawk County Town Hall Meeting Wednesday, July 31st 10:00 AM CT University of Northern Iowa – Center for Energy and Environmental Education 8106 Jennings Drive Cedar Falls, IA 50614 Dubuque County Town Hall Meeting Wednesday, July 31st 1:30 PM CT Carnegie Stout Public Library 360 W 11th Street Dubuque, IA 52001 Best, Camp Congress Camp Congress was back in session this week! I was very excited to have my sons Max and Jax with me in D.C. this week to witness the history being made here on the Hill! Max and Jax are my motivation for doing this job. They brought much-needed perspective and some fun to another whirlwind week on the Hill. I love seeing the world through their eyes and am so lucky to be their mom. Protecting American Industry and Labor from International Trade Crimes Act For decades, Communist China has blatantly violated U.S. trade laws and ripped off American workers with no accountability or consequences. This has led to shuttered factories and devastating job losses across the country, hollowing out American industry and gutting rural manufacturing towns while enabling the CCP's forced labor practices. That's why I introduced the Protecting American Industry and Labor from International Trade Crimes Act to ensure we finally crack down on Communist China's illicit trade practices so we can reshore American manufacturing and provide opportunities for American workers. I will continue to work to prevent Communist China from growing their economy at the expense of our own. It's time to put America first! You can read more about the bill here. Bipartisan Investigation into Trump Assassination Attempt Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle’s resignation was just the first step to ensure full accountability for the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump a few weeks ago. I believe God was watching over President Trump that day. While the President miraculously survived this attempt on his life, the American people deserve answers on this massive security failure. That's why I voted to create a bipartisan, investigative task force to uncover and resolve systemic failures at the Secret Service and improve security for both elected leaders and Americans participating in our political process. Read more on the bill here. Alliant Energy It was great to hear from the team at Alliant Energy on maximizing our domestic energy resources and reforming the broken permitting process to make energy more affordable and accessible for Iowans. Early Care & Education Consortium I enjoyed meeting with members of the Early Care & Education Consortium! Their members operate 50 child care centers in Iowa and serve 7,000 children and families! Their perspective is invaluable as I continue working on solutions to expand affordable child care access in Iowa. Members of the Meskwaki Nation It was great to meet with Members of the Meskwaki Nation this week! We discussed progress on their new correctional facility that I helped secure funding to complete and ways I can continue supporting their community. Renewable Fuels Association Iowa biofuels are key to the strength of our Iowa economy. I enjoyed meeting with the Renewable Fuels Association to discuss how we can continue to bolster Iowa’s biofuel industry while supporting the farmers and producers who work tirelessly to fuel the world.
