In the past few weeks, we have seen that the effects of COVID-19 not only impact us, but those trying to save us. As we celebrate the work of our brave healthcare heroes, we must also ensure their health and welfare is protected.

Healthcare workers are risking their lives every day to keep us safe, yet there remains a shortage of the right equipment to keep them safe.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is not just about face masks, rubber gloves and aprons. It’s about our right to life and the right to health. We are continually reminding the UK Government of their obligations under international law to protect these rights. If health workers lack adequate PPE, then everyone is at higher risk.

Though we distance ourselves physically, we must come together to ensure everyone in the UK is supported through this pandemic, especially those on the frontline of the crisis.

Tell our governments to protect healthcare heroes during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Better support for the most vulnerable 

Together, we can call on our governments - at Westminster and across the UK - to ensure:

• Brave healthcare heroes on the frontline of this crisis have personal protective equipment, information, training and psychological support.

As well as:

• There is support for people who do not have safe and secure accommodation, the means to support themselves and their families and vital healthcare services at this time, due to their immigration status.
• Those at risk of domestic abuse who are forced to stay at home with their abusers are able to get the support they need regardless of their immigration status.

Urge our governments - in Westminster, Holyrood, Cardiff and Stormont - to protect healthcare heroes and those most vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic.

No one is safe until everyone is safe. If health workers aren’t protected, those in their care face increased risk.

Our governments must put measures in place to ensure our right to health is protected. Nothing less will do. Now more than ever – we need to unite and fight for humanity.
