I never thought this would ever happen.

Dear friend,

My name is Tony Montalto, and I am a father who never imagined the need to plan his daughter's funeral.

On February 14, 2018, our lives were shattered by an act of senseless violence that claimed the life of my beloved Gina at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. In an instant, the world as we knew it was ripped apart, leaving behind only fragments of the dreams and aspirations we held for our precious daughter.

Gina was not just a statistic or a headline — she was a vibrant, compassionate soul with an infectious smile and a heart of gold.

In the days that followed her senseless murder, I found myself thrust into a nightmare from which I could not wake.

When I could breathe again, I realized the best way to deal with my grief is by speaking out. I thought about the change that needed to happen so that no other parent loses a child to firearm violence at school – and my life ever since has been consumed by working for that change. But each time I see another shooting on the news, another parent who’s been forced to plan their child’s funeral and go through what I have, it pains me that the needed changes weren’t fast enough to save them.

Friend, that’s why we’re doing everything we can to advocate for real, tangible change. Whether it’s speaking out, leading walkthroughs of the massacre scene, meeting lawmakers and anyone and everyone whose stomach turns at the thought of more violence – we do so because we need to work even faster to prevent the next tragedy from happening

But we cannot do it alone. We need your support to continue our vital work — to honor the memory of Gina and all those who have been lost to senseless violence in our schools, and to build a future where every child can go to school without fear. Please rush $25, or as much as you can to keep our schools safe.

Every bit of support will help save other parents from planning their child's funeral – like the devastation of picking out a coffin for my Gina, one too small for how big her future could have been.

Thank you, friend. I’m so grateful for everything you do to help me keep speaking out and working to prevent tragedies from happening.
