You may have seen the news that the United States Postal Service is at-risk of going bankrupt, and that Trump is refusing to provide them with any additional funding.
This is extremely troubling.
The Postal Service is an essential part of public life in our country, and it employs over 100,000 veterans in addition to hundreds of thousands of Americans - all of whom would go without paychecks if Trump gets his way.
This is also worrying because the USPS is poised to take on an even more important role during this pandemic.
If reasonable minds prevail, our nation should move toward a universal vote-by-mail program in order to fight the spread of COVID-19. The means the Postal Service will be instrumental in facilitating our 2020 elections.
It's shameful that Trump is threatening its funding, and the fact that there are electoral implications makes this all-the-more concerning.
