John,
Brad Lander has always been loud about the urgent need for a plan to get our trains and buses moving again.
Eleven years ago this week, in fact, he introduced a City Council bill requiring a citywide plan to develop a Bus Rapid Transit system. Still, over a decade later, traffic ensnares the city in fumes and gridlock, MTA stations are in disrepair, and service is shoddy.
That’s why Brad announced two new lawsuits that were filed with a coalition of advocates, attorneys, and plaintiffs challenging Governor Hochul’s illegal halt of congestion pricing.
Both lawsuits state unequivocally that the governor’s action is against the law. They give New Yorkers a fighting chance at reduced traffic, better air quality, and the world-class public bus and subway service we all deserve.
Will you donate just $2.90 today — the cost of one subway or bus ride — to support Brad in his fight to improve the MTA? [[link removed]]

City Club of New York et al v. Hochul challenges Governor Hochul’s authority to single handedly block congestion pricing under the original 2019 statute. Meanwhile, Riders Alliance v. Hochul challenges the governor’s decision on the basis of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act and the right to clean air and a healthy environment in the New York State Constitution.
Brad knows less traffic, less emissions, and less transit delays benefit ALL New Yorkers. After all, subway riders are the bread and butter of our city’s working families and economic engine. Most working-class New Yorkers rely on the subway to get to and from work every day!
That’s why he’s been leading a coalition of attorneys, advocates, and activists pursuing legal action to reverse Governor Hochul’s disastrous decision to halt congestion pricing, and patch up the $15-billion hole it leaves in the MTA’s budget.
Public transit is a lifeline for our city’s residents and businesses. If you’re with Brad in the fight to save congestion pricing and make the MTA work better for every New Yorker, please pitch in $2.90 today: [[link removed]]
