A Message from Gabe:
Greetings Rhode Islanders,
I hope this message finds you well and you are enjoying our beautiful Rhode Island summer. I want to share some success stories from our district team, who have diligently worked to assist constituents across our First Congressional District. These stories reflect our commitment to serving you and ensuring that your voices are heard.
Richard, of North Providence, reached out to our office for assistance after having issues with the Social Security Administration. Mr. Delmonaco said:
- “After I got hurt and submitted my claim, I waited years and began falling behind on my bills, I finally had enough and reached out to Congressman Amo’s office. To my relief, I finally got answers and received a check for $66,872. I hope by sharing my story, others are able to get the help they need, too!”
Lucille, of North Smithfield, had been waiting for her surviving spousal benefits with the Department of Veterans Affairs before contacting our office. Our team expedited her case, ensuring she received her rightful benefits. Lucille’s daughter Gail shared:
- “After waiting a year and a half for my late fathers VA claim to be approved, Congressman Amo’s office got it resolved in less than three weeks. A check came in the mail today for $23,234, and we were just floored! My 95-year-old mother Lucille was ecstatic, saying “Amo got it done!”
These stories are just a few examples of our commitment to serving you. Whether you are facing issues with federal agencies, need assistance with benefits, or have concerns about health care, my team and I are here to help. If you can't get an answer from a federal agency in a timely fashion, or if you feel you have been treated unfairly, my office may be able to help.
We will always do our best to help you receive a fair and timely response to issues you may have with the federal government. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our Pawtucket office at 401-729-5600 for assistance with any federal issues you may encounter.
Thank you for allowing me to serve you. I am working to make Rhode Island an even better place to live, work, and raise our families.
Sincerely, |

Amo Advances Critical Infrastructure Priorities in the First Congressional District
Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01) voted to pass the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2024, essential legislation that advances Rhode Island priorities to strengthen flood protection, bolster resiliency, and invest in wastewater and stormwater infrastructure.
This week, I announced major achievements for Rhode Island in the Water Resources Development Act of 2024 that passed the House of Representatives. This includes:
- The "Rhode Island Coastline, Coastal Storm Risk Management" project that ensures Rhode Island and other coastal states can identify a plan to reduce flood risks.
- Reauthorization of the National Dam Safety Program that provides resources and support needed to monitor dams in our communities and reduce the risks associated with dam failure.
- Higher federal limits for the Continuing Authorities Programs to account for the per-project adjustments which would better allow the Corps to meet it mission.
- Improving the connectivity between federal and state partners for state-approved projects, strategies, and plans to help expedite the uptake of projects.
As coastal communities face the existential threats of the climate crisis, Congress must authorize the federal resources necessary to reduce flood and storm damage, restore vital aquatic ecosystems, and improve resilience. In Rhode Island’s First District, the Army Corps of Engineers plays a critical role, operating critical infrastructure like Fox Point hurricane barrier. I am proud to have secured priorities in this legislation and will continue to push for it to become law.
