Pushing back against the Biden administration's SBA overreach...   Washington, D.C. - Recently my Ways and Means colleagues and I met with the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Chris Luxon. We had a productive discussion about how we can continue to strengthen trade relationship with their country. Tuesday morning, I went to our Ways and Means Oversight Subcommittee hearing where we examined the flow of money from tax-exempt organizations to extremist organizations that are fueling antisemitism in the United States. I asked what Congress can do to stop people who have a history of working for organizations that finance terrorism from ever being associated with a tax-exempt organization again. Click here or on the image below to watch my line of questioning. After, I met with the Early Care and Education Consortium, a multi-state child care and educational provider, to discuss bipartisan child care tax policies to help support working families and enhance the early education system. A few weeks ago my colleagues and I on the Ways and Means Committee heard from Paris Hilton on the horrendous conditions children in the welfare system are facing. Wednesday, we advanced bipartisan legislation to reform our nation's programs to protect vulnerable populations and keep children safe. Later, I continued fighting for America's small businesses by leading a hearing to investigate the Small Business Administration's electioneering efforts as directed by the Biden administration. We must return the SBA to its mission of supporting and addressing small business owner's real concerns of high inflation and red tape. You can read more about it in my Work of the Week section! I also voted to establish a bipartisan task force to investigate the security failures that led to the attempted assassination of former President Trump. After, I supported the Interior and Environment Appropriations Act which was passed by the House and promotes American energy production, strengthens our national security, and prevents the Biden administration from implementing a far left, anti-American energy agenda. Thursday, we said goodbye to one of our D.C. summer interns and Southlake resident, Walker. I’m grateful for the work our interns do to support the people of Texas-24. Texas-24 Work of the Week I led a hearing to further investigate President Biden’s abuse of the Small Business Administration, using it as a political arm for Democrat reelection efforts. The SBA must get back to their mission of supporting small businesses, and I’m working to bring integrity and credibility back to the agency. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week’s Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Coppell High School student, Annabella Perk. Annabella’s culinary skills helped her secure a statewide title at the 4-H Food Show at Texas A&M, and helped her team take home second place in the food challenge! Rep.
