I’ll be honest with you: It’s not always easy being Muslim and living in North Carolina. Don’t get me wrong, our community here in Durham is diverse and accepting. We feel the love from our neighbors.

But it feels like almost every time we turn on the news or go online, we see NC Republicans attacking people like us and families like ours, often just because of our faith.

I don’t want our young daughter and newborn son to grow up in a state where their elected officials demonize them and treat them as “others.”

So I’m doing my part to make sure North Carolina elects leaders that represent ALL communities in our state.

John, my wife Nida is doing everything in her power between now and election day to turn out progressive voters and defeat extremist, Islamophobic Republicans. Please, will you give $27 to fund her fight so our children can grow up in a state where they’re welcomed with open arms? >>
