Dataset now available: Annual Survey of Jails, 2018 [ [link removed] ]
The Bureau of Justice Statistics has released a dataset on local jails through the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data (NACJD). The Annual Survey of Jails is a national survey of county, city, and regional jails. Its data include
* the number and characteristics of local jail inmates
* inmate turnover
* jail capacity
* usage of jail space.
BJSs Annual Survey of Jails is the only national collection in the United States that provides an annual source of data on local jails and jail inmates.
