Dirty politics.

Friends,

I’m going to pull back the curtain and give you a glimpse of what running for such a competitive seat is like.

For starters, it means getting followed around and heckled by random men/political “trackers,” like the one below who followed me last week.

Then, every single thing I say is spun and taken out of context by groups like the NRCC, in hopes of weakening my support in Alaska.

And lastly, running in such a competitive race means that the air waves are about to be blanketed with attack ads against me, laying the groundwork for my defeat.

Friends, I’ll be honest: The smear campaigns and dirty politics sting. But the truth is, that’s the price for representing Alaska in Congress, and I’ll never back down from standing up for my state.

I refuse to play the gross games and run the smear campaigns that my opponents and the special interests are playing. But I still need to fight back. So please friend, will you split $5 or more between the Blue Dogs and I before midnight so I can fend off these constant attacks and win in November? >>

Counting on you!

-- Mary Peltola
