Happy ADA anniversary! Today is the 34th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, a hugely important civil rights law for disabled people. The Americans with Disabilities Act gives us the right to accessibility and accommodations at our jobs, in public places, in government services, and more.
To celebrate today’s ADA anniversary, we’re excited to release a new video series, “A Self-Advocate’s Guide to the Americans with Disabilities Act [[link removed]].” In plain language, this video series explains what the ADA is, what rights it gives us, how it is enforced, and more. This is a video version of our earlier Easy Read toolkit, which you can check out here [[link removed]].
Videos are a great way to make information accessible for people who learn better by watching and listening than by reading. Our ADA videos feature animations that illustrate the ideas in the video while we explain them, to help everyone understand. Captions are also available on every video. We hope you’ll share these videos [[link removed]] with anyone you know who wants to learn more about the ADA, and have a great ADA anniversary!
