Updates
Hi hey hello John,
We put some great new updates up yesterday afternoon! Peruse the list below and let me know if you have any questions.
Shortlink Builder
You can now easily create and manage short links for emails and mobile messages in Action Network. Start with a regular long URL, come up with a custom short link, click to save, and you’re done.
All links include: [Actionnetwork.org OR custom group domain if added] + [random letter/number] + [custom permalink].
So this long ugly link: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/download-the-action-network-action-builder-electoral-guide
Becomes this short, fun link: https://actionnetwork.org/r/nj/coolstuffhere.
Get started via the Details dropdown menu.
ActBlue sync update: Bump your recurring donation
The ActBlue sync continues to get more awesome! We are now passing through a custom ‘bump your recurring donation’ link created by ActBlue for all recurring donors. The link takes the donor to a custom ActBlue page with an option to increase their recurring donation. We’re automatically storing three new fields as a part of this integration – more here.
Here’s how it works:
- Write an email including an ask for donors to increase their recurring amount.
- Use the ‘field values’ clip and the ‘actblue_bump_recurring_link’ custom field. Make sure to include a default link to an evergreen ActBlue donation page, just in case you need a fallback.
- Target the email using the ‘field values’ filter, target ‘actblue_bump_recurring_link’ and use the wildcard symbol ‘%’ to get anyone who has a link in the field.
- Hit send and watch your recurring donor revenue grow!
Custom field wait times in Ladders
In addition to our standard hour and day wait times, you can now set up custom field wait times that are variable depending on the activist. For example, you could upload a list of emails and early voting dates and set up a Ladder that sends out early vote reminders to activists depending on where they live. More here.
Small but mighty updates:
- New Group default: Event discussion board to ‘off’.
- HTML mode is now fully sticky! If an email is in HTML mode, it’ll stay in HTML mode regardless of another admin reloading the page until it’s manually changed. Thank you to Masha, Nick, and Audrey, our new development partners at the DLCC, for this delightful quality of life update.
- Cancel comp tickets and remove them from the RSVP list. A standard email is generated to the RSVP letting them know about the change.
- You can now download tag notes in the tags report.
- We now support regular expression (regex) validation and labels and placeholders on core fields in addition to custom fields. More here.
- You can now do an advanced search by email body text in the Emails tab on the Group Manage page.
As with all our new features, these were primarily chosen, brainstormed, and paid for by our Development Partners at the AFL-CIO, the Canadian Labour Congress and DLCC — read more about our cooperative development process here.
