1. NC VALUES: Stein and Title IX
In 1972, Title IX was adopted to protect women from sex-based
discrimination in educational institutions that receive federal
funding. Through regulations, the Biden administration is advancing
its woke agenda through unconstitutional Title IX
rules that were not intended by the original
statute, and are at the expense of fundamental rights and women’s
safety.
While the woke Title IX changes are set to begin August 1st, judges
in 15 states have temporarily blocked enforcement while legal cases
move forward in Alaska, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana,
Mississippi, Montana, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West
Virginia, and Wyoming.
Noticeably absent from the list: North
Carolina.
The reason for this: woke NC Attorney General Josh
Stein.

2. NORTH STATE JOURNAL: Newt
Gingrich: Preserving the strength of our nation starts at
home
"As a result of radicalism in the classroom, many parents have
turned to homeschooling. Homeschooling has doubled since 2020, and
many families wait years to get their children into private or
religious schools. As Carson said, ‘That tells you that the American
people know what’s happening.’ The pandemic opened a window into the
world of classroom indoctrination. Parents are rejecting this false
education and seeking alternatives. We must reestablish America’s core
biblical and familial values before the whole system collapses. This
effort starts at home. The future of our nation hinges on the health
of our families and communities."

3. BR NOW: 'Once in a lifetime
opportunity:' NC Baptist pastor leads prayer at RNC
"Jackson said the chance to pray at the RNC was a personal
highlight for him. 'The opportunity to call America to repentance and
ask God for His favor upon our land was a once in a lifetime
opportunity that I will cherish,' Jackson said. Jackson has served as
pastor of Beulah Baptist Church in Bennett for nearly 15 years. He was
born in Pinehurst, N.C., but grew up in Atlanta where his dad pastored
for 40 years. After college, Jackson embarked on a career as a
financial planner and spent 13 years in the industry, but he ended up
a pastor like his father and grandfather because he 'couldn’t get away
from the call.'"

4. YOU’RE INVITED: Calling all
parents with students waitlisted for the Opportunity
Scholarship
As you know, the legislature has failed to reach an agreement on
fully funding the 58,000+ students left unfunded by the Opportunity
Scholarship, despite legislators’ statements that they would ensure we
had universal school choice in North Carolina.
A group of concerned parents, unaffiliated with NC Values
or any other organization, have come together to hold a rally and
press conference on July 31 at 10 a.m. on the Halifax Mall.
The House and Senate will be in session that day, and the goal is to
encourage the two chambers to pass legislation that will fully fund
all the students left out of the Universal Opportunity Scholarship,
because there is not enough money appropriated to fund the waitlist.
If you are one of the many parents whose children are on the waitlist
for Opportunity Scholarship funding, would you consider joining them
on July 31st for the rally?
WHAT: Parents with
Students Waitlisted for the Opportunity Scholarship Rally/Press
Conference
WHEN: July 31, 10
a.m.
WHERE: Halifax Mall, 300 N. Salisbury St.,
Raleigh, NC
WHY: To urge the legislature to fully
fund the Opportunity Scholarship before the clock runs
out
HOW: RSVP by texting: 252-299-2326. For more information,
visit https://keepyourpromise.substack.com/.
If you are not a parent, or cannot attend in person, but would
still like to help these families out, would you consider taking a
couple minutes to use
this click-to-call tool to easily call your legislators and
ask them to support funding the Opportunity Scholarship?
5. CHRISTIAN POST: Tennessee law
banning children from drag shows upheld by appeals court
"A federal appellate court upheld a Tennessee law effectively
banning children from drag shows, with an LGBT advocacy organization
challenging the measure, warning that it threatens to put its case in
'limbo.' In an opinion published last week, a three-judge panel on the
6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Tennessee's Adult
Entertainment Act. Enacted in 2023, the legislation declares that 'it
is an offense for a person to perform adult caberet entertainment' at
any location where the show could be 'viewed by a person who is not an
adult.'"

Weekly Prayer: NC Officials
LORD, you also have instructed us to pray for our governing
officials, and we come to you in the spirit of this petition. We pray
for our state government and its executive, legislative, and judicial
servants. May they indeed be servants unto the people, and govern in a
manner that protects liberty and virtue. In the same spirit, we pray
for public servants across our local governments. May they all heed
your mandate in Romans 13:4 to be in positions of authority as "God's
servant" and for the "good" of the public. They govern in what we
confess are difficult times. May they plead with you to give them
wisdom, and may your grace to govern wisely be poured out on
them.
Protect us from the oppression and loss of freedoms that other
countries have experienced, and help us to value and preserve freedom,
which we know comes only from You.
"I have indeed seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I
have heard their groaning and have come down to set them free." Acts
7:34
Amen
