Farmers and ranchers need our help more than ever. Click to read more about how I’m trying to help. >>
Fellow American,
Ranchers and farmers are the unsung food heroes of today, keeping us all fed while we stay safe at home during this COVID-19 crisis.
They don’t get a day off during the pandemic — they’re expected to continue working the same long hours to ensure that Americans have food to purchase to feed their families.
As a Senator from Nebraska, my state is home to many of these agricultural workers, including cattle ranchers, and farmers growing crops for both food consumption and the renewable fuel industry.
This dedicated group of people needs our help during these trying times.
We must to address the decrease in fuel consumption and what it means for our farmers. 40 percent of all corn grown in the U.S. goes to ethanol plants. As most of the country has been staying “safe at home,” fuel use has decreased dramatically. Our biofuel industry desperately needs funding during these extremely difficult times.
I’m standing up for these essential industries, and asking that Congress do something to help them survive this pandemic. We need solutions to keep these farms and ranches — many of them small, family-owned businesses — solvent until we can get back to work.
We cannot leave agricultural workers high and dry. I want you to know I’m taking action, and I will continue to fight for these critical communities.
Sincerely,
Deb Fischer
P.S. I know times are tough for all of us these days, but if you’re able, will you CLICK HERE to donate what you can to help me continue standing up for the farmers and ranchers who are hurting the most during this crisis? Thank you!
