This fire season, I want to celebrate the formerly incarcerated cadets and graduates of the Ventura Training Center (VTC). Right now, for the first time ever, all 58 VTC cadets are working together to fight the same fire, the Lake Fire in Santa Barbara.
 

VTC offers advanced firefighter training to people under parole supervision, transforming their lives and providing them with a second chance to become real-life heroes.
