I love that Elvin started thinking creatively about how he could make a difference in his community through Live Action’s national reach. We all know how difficult it can be to begin a conversation about abortion, but Elvin realized there was another way. 

He said, “You’ve got to come in the second door. The Lord laid on my heart to do something for the unborn children. I wanted to do something different so that I could enter into a conversation every day. The hotdog grabs people’s attention.” 

Elvin is intentional about even small details in his efforts. He built his hotdog stand so that the hotdogs could be grilled instead of steamed, giving them a more “backyard” homey feel. 

He also placed a photo of Noah’s Ark on the front of his stand, which he explains is symbolic because Noah’s Ark did not have a rudder. He built his stand to likewise not have a rudder, explaining that he goes where he feels God wants him to go with the pro-life message. 

Each of us has a unique calling to serve in the pro-life movement, and that looks different depending on our state in life, talents, and resources. 

We’re not all called to run a pro-life hotdog stand, but the universal beauty of Elvin’s example is that we all can and should be excited about the fact that even $10 can make a big difference in spreading the truth about abortion and saving innocent lives.
