Dems Stand with Pro-Hamas ProtestorsA Reckoning for Iran’s Useful Idiots National Parks Trashed. The D.C. police failed to provide the necessary support that the National Park Service requested, resulting in a mass illegal gathering. This event saw fires lit, including the burning of U.S. flags and effigies, the removal of official U.S. flags, and the defacement of monuments with Hamas symbols and eerie messages such as “Hamas is Coming.” These protests continue today. Democratic Boycott. Approximately 70 Democrats from the House and Senate boycotted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ongoing speech to a joint session of Congress. In contrast, Netanyahu’s last speech at a joint session of Congress in 2015 saw a boycott by 58 Democrats. Palestinian-American lawmaker Rashida Tlaib sat through Netanyahu’s speech, holding up a small protest sign reading “Guilty of Genocide” and “War Criminal” before being asked to stop by officials. Netanyahu’s Powerful Speech. Despite the contentious atmosphere, Prime Minister Netanyahu delivered what Senator Ted Cruz described as a “Churchillian speech,” highlighting the stark differences between Israeli values and those of Hamas. Netanyahu noted a chilling statement made by a senior Hamas official recently, who boasted, “Palestinian women and children excel at being human shields.” In contrast, Bibi said, “For Israel, every civilian death is a tragedy; for Hamas, it’s a strategy!” He emphasized the existential threat posed by Iran, stating, “Iran sees America as their greatest enemy,” and quoted a Hezbollah Foreign Minister who recently said, “This is not a war with Israel. Israel is merely a tool. The main war, the real war, is with America.” Netanyahu made it clear that Israel is standing in the gap for America, fighting Iran by proxy in Gaza and their northern border. Iran's Influence on Protests. Netanyahu revealed that the U.S. Director of National Intelligence recently informed him that Iran is funding and promoting anti-Israel, anti-American protests, including activities like burning the American flag, nationwide. He boldly stated that the protesters outside are “Iran’s useful idiots,” receiving a roar of applause. The Clash Between Civilizations. He further stated that this is not a clash between civilizations but between barbarism and civilization, between those who glorify death and those who treasure life. “When we stand together, something very simple happens. We win, they lose,” Netanyahu declared. The Human Cost of Hamas Terrorism. Netanyahu reminded everyone that 3,000 Hamas terrorists butchered 1,200 people from 41 countries, including 39 Americans, noting this was Israel's equivalent to 29 9/11 attacks in one day. He detailed that 250 hostages were dragged underground, both living and dead, and 135 hostages have been brought home so far. A Call for Accountability. As the Israeli Prime Minister sought to address Congress and meet with the Biden Administration to develop a real plan for a full hostage release and come together to fight a shared enemy seeking our destruction, protestors raged outside, calling for the death and destruction of both America and Israel. At the same time, Rep. Tlaib and others sided with Hamas in the halls of Congress.
