You helped Mum educate her community

Hi Friend,

Thanks to your support, we’re using Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence to improve eye care around the world. But we know that innovation means finding the best way to solve a problem, which sometimes leads us to more practical solutions.

This is “Mum,” an Orbis-trained Community Health Worker dedicated to improving eye health in her community in Zambia. A program funded by Orbis supporters has allowed Mum to better educate her community using low-cost mobile technology like cell phones. Now, Mum receives regular training via her phone and refers those in need to the nearest vision center. She even gives some people a lift to hospital on her bike!

Mum shared, “I used to see so many people resort to medication which didn’t even heal the eye. When I attended health training from Orbis, it gave me an opportunity to teach people the right thing to do when they have an eye condition.”

We want to give a big thank you to wonderful supporters like you for helping provide Mum with the tools she needs to save sight for so many families in Zambia.
