House Votes Unanimously to Approve Task Force Investigating Trump Assassination Attempt

Daily Signal: The House passed a resolution to form a bipartisan task force to investigate the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump on July 13. HR 1367, which was spearheaded by House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., passed the House in a unanimous vote… “The security failures that allowed an assassination attempt on Donald Trump’s life are shocking,” Johnson and Jeffries said in a joint statement on Tuesday. “The task force will be empowered with subpoena authority and will move quickly to find the facts, ensure accountability, and make certain such failures never happen again.” The task force will be composed of seven Republicans and six Democrats “in response to bipartisan demands for answers,” according to Johnson and Jeffries’ joint statement (Daily Signal). Daily Wire: According to the resolution, the task force must “issue a final report of its findings to the House not later than December 13, 2024, including any recommendations for legislative reforms necessary to prevent future security lapses” (Daily Wire).

Whistleblower Reveals Secret Service Denied Donald Trump Drone Coverage on July 13
Fox News: Local law enforcement repeatedly offered to provide drone coverage in the sky above former President Trump’s July 13 campaign rally — where he survived a failed assassination attempt — but was rebuffed by the U.S. Secret Service (USSS), according to Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., citing a new whistleblower. “This means that the technology was both available to USSS and able to be deployed to secure the site. Secret Service said no.” FBI Director Christopher Wray, whose agency has taken a lead role in the investigation, confirmed during a congressional hearing this week that the would-be assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, flew a drone of his own overhead before Trump took the stage (Fox News). Reporter Catherine Herridge: NEW: “According to one whistleblower, the night before the rally, U.S. Secret Service repeatedly denied offers from a local law enforcement partner to utilize drone technology to secure the rally” (X).

A Day Late: Kamala Harris Denounces Violent Pro-Hamas Protest
Katie Pavlich: Vice President Kamala Harris has finally issued a statement nearly 24 hours after a violent pro-Hamas crowd descended on Union Station in Washington D.C., took down three American flags, burned them and then hoisted up Hamas flags in their place. “Yesterday, at Union Station in Washington, D.C. we saw despicable acts by unpatriotic protestors and dangerous hate-fueled rhetoric. I condemn any individuals associating with the brutal terrorist organization Hamas, which has vowed to annihilate the State of Israel and kill Jews. Pro-Hamas graffiti and rhetoric is abhorrent and we must not tolerate it in our nation,” Harris released in a statement, failing to add perpetrators of the violence and vandalism should be prosecuted. “I condemn the burning of the American flag… I support the right to peacefully protest, but let’s be clear: Antisemitism, hate and violence of any kind have no place in our nation.” But in the immediate aftermath of the October 7 attacks, when more than 30 Americans were killed by Hamas terrorists in Israel and eight were taken hostage to the Gaza Strip, Harris sympathized with the pro-Hamas cause. She also supports UNWRA, the “aid” organization infested with terrorists (Townhall). RNC Research: Kamala Harris sits in silence as an audience member peddles Hamas propaganda and baselessly accuses Israel and the U.S. of “genocide.” Then she praises him: “I appreciate you raising the subject and I appreciate your leadership” (X).

Kamala Harris Is a DEI Hire
Washington Examiner: The Left gets in high dudgeon every time someone calls Vice President Kamala Harris a diversity, equity, and inclusion hire… Trump is 78, white, and famously male. As for Harris, if she or anyone else has a problem with her being associated with DEI, they should take it up with President Joe Biden himself. It was Biden, after all, who, when he was first casting about for a running mate, said he wanted a woman of color. “Whomever I pick, preferably it will be someone who was of color and/or a different gender, but I’m not making that commitment until I know that the person I’m dealing with I can completely and thoroughly trust as authentic and on the same page,” he said in 2019 (Washington Examiner). Christopher Rufo: Here’s Kamala Harris directly associating her vice presidency with DEI (X). End Wokeness: Yes, Kamala Harris is a DEI hire. She got the job because of her race and gender.  But don’t take my word for it (X).

Kamala Harris Supports Children Reading Pornography in Schools: “they want to ban books”
NBC: Vice President Kamala Harris told Republicans to “bring it on” in what she described as a “fight for our most fundamental freedoms” as she spoke to the American Federation of Teachers on Thursday… Harris added that “we want to ban assault weapons, and they want to ban books” (NBC). Libs of TikTok: Kamala Harris says Republicans want to “ban books.” Your daily reminder that when they accuse us of “banning books” they’re referring to pornographic books which are offered to kids in schools across the country. Why does Kamala want your kids reading porn in school (X)? Senator Mike Lee: Kamala Harris apparently wants schools to give kids access to pornography. And then she accuses those who disagree of wanting to ban books. Not okay. Not defensible. Not presidential (X).

President Biden, VP Harris Meets With Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
Times of Israel: The US message to Israel in President Joe Biden’s ongoing meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is that it’s time to bring the hostage release and ceasefire deal over the line, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller says. “We need to get this deal over the line. We’ve been working on it for some time. It’s been a tough negotiation. We’ve made progress. We’ve got a framework for an agreement done. We now need to bridge the final differences and get a deal in place so we can all move forward,” Miller says in a briefing with reporters (Times of Israel). ABC News: Pres. Biden welcomed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the Oval Office for a bilateral meeting. “I want to thank you for 50 years of public service and 50 years of support for the state of Israel,” Netanyahu told Biden (X). Guardian: Kamala Harris said she pressed Benjamin Netanyahu about her concerns about the humanitarian situation in Gaza in “frank” talks in Washington that are being closely watched for indications of how she might deal with Israel if she becomes president. After speaking to the Israeli prime minister she said: Israel has a right to defend itself. And how it does so matters. I made clear my serious concern about the dire humanitarian situation there in Gaza. I will not be silent” (Guardian).

House Rebukes Kamala Harris on Her Handling of Border Crisis
National Review: House Republicans passed a resolution Thursday condemning Vice President Kamala Harris’s work on the border crisis, with six Democrats joining in support. With a 220-196 vote, the House approved the four-page resolution criticizing “the Biden Administration and its Border Czar, Kamala Harris’s, failure to secure the United States border.” The passage comes as Republicans aim to highlight the vice president’s oversight of continuing illegal immigration after she became the presumptive Democratic nominee earlier this week. Illegal border crossings have averaged a record 2 million per year since the start of the Biden administration. The number never reached 1 million during any year under the Trump administration. As November approaches, illegal immigration will be a key issue in the presidential election and down-ballot races, and Republicans hold an advantage in public opinion. Polling by the Associated Press in April found more than two-thirds of American voters do not approve of the Biden administration’s handling of the border (National Review).

Kamala Harris Jumps Feet-First Into EV Mandates
Breitbart: As part of a green agenda while running for president in the 2020 Democrat primary, Harris detailed her plans to abolish sales of gas-powered cars by 2035 and ensure that Americans can only purchase EVs when looking for a new car. “We will ensure that 50 percent of all new passenger vehicles sold are zero-emission by 2030, and 100 percent are zero-emission by 2035,” Harris’s agenda reads. Similarly, Harris said she wanted to require “that all new buses be zero-emission by 2030” and “require that new buildings are carbon-neutral by 2030” (Breitbart). Free Beacon: A poll conducted earlier this month by Remington Research Group on behalf of the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers, which opposes EV mandates, found that 59 percent or more of likely voters in Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin oppose bans on gas-powered cars in their states, which will likely determine the winner of the election (Free Beacon).

Pro-Hamas Protesters Leave Tons of Property Damage in Their Wake
Spencer Brown: Just hours after Hamas-sympathizing agitators turned what could have been a peaceful, though idiotic, protest on Wednesday near the U.S. Capitol into an unlawful free-for-all reminiscent of the “Summer of Love,” cleanup work was already underway at D.C.’s union station. A National Park Service (NPS) crew arrived on the scene just before 8:00 a.m. and began pre-treating the vile graffiti sprayed across the ground, a replica of the Liberty Bell, and a monument to Christopher Columbus. Warnings that “Hamas is coming” and “all zionists are bastards” were handily removed with power washers and some elbow grease by the humble NPS employees who shouldn’t have to clean up for the ill-adjusted lunatics who insist anything is justified in order to achieve their genocidal cause (Townhall). Spencer Brown: Good morning from Union Station where NPS crews are cleaning up the mess left by flag-burning, monument-defacing radicals yesterday (X). RNC Research: Co-Press Secretary John Kirby acknowledges “Iran has been funding and encouraging some of the protest activity in the United States.” REMINDER: The Harris-Biden administration just renewed a sanctions waiver last week to unlock billions of dollars more for the Iranian regime (X). Senator Marco Rubio: If you’re in the United States on a visa and vandalizing property with phrases like “Hamas is coming,” it’s time for you to go (X).

California to Spend Billions to Remove Homeless From Streets, Attempt to House Them
National Review: California governor Gavin Newsom directed state officials to remove homeless encampments across the Golden State on Thursday after the Supreme Court ruled in June that local governments have a right to ban public camping and impose fines for violators. Newsom announced the guidance in an executive order, advising cities to crack down on encampments on public property while providing social services and housing alternatives. The order, first reported by the New York Times, represents a sharp departure from the accommodative homelessness policies adopted by progressive state governments over the last decade (National Review). Washington Examiner: Newsom’s order states agencies should adopt policies to prioritize efforts to address encampments by providing notice to vacate at least 48 hours in advance. They should also contact service providers, collect personal property from removal sites, and store it for at least 60 days. The Democratic governor’s order also notes that state agencies aren’t allowed to simply move campers from one location to another but that they should work with local officials to start housing people and provide services that will allow them to leave the streets for good. California has spent billions of dollars to curb its homelessness problem, with little success. Since taking office in 2019, Newsom has directed $24 billion to California’s homelessness problem (Washington Examiner).
