Mark your calendars for August 27

Friends,

We have some exciting news to share.

In recent months, we have strengthened our organizational structure – expanding our board, heightening our focus on transparency and enhancing our community outreach. These efforts, along with a renewed sense of mission, reflect our board's commitment to proactively addressing critical needs this election season.

The Latino Texas PAC was founded in 2015 and since then, our organization has focused on two goals: 1) increasing the representation of Latinas and Latinos in elected positions and 2) holding all elected officials accountable to the Latino community.

Over the past 9 years, we have all contributed towards increasing the number of Latinas and Latinos who currently hold elected positions in the Greater Houston Area. Here is a simple snapshot of how much our representation has advanced:

2015

2024

Houston City Council

One Latino
City Council Member

Three Latino City Council Members:

Joaquin Martinez, Julian Ramirez and Mario Castillo

Harris County
Commissioner’s Court

Zero
Latino Commissioners

Three Latino Commissioners:

Lesley Briones, Adrian Garcia, and Judge Lina Hidalgo

We’ve also seen wonderful people elected as State Representatives and School Board Trustees including Christina Morales, Holly Flynn Vilaseca and Judith Cruz.

We can call that progress, but there is still so much more to be done!

And that’s why we need your help. This year, we endorsed Annette Ramirez ([link removed]) for Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector & Voter Registrar. In speaking with Annette about her campaign, we now understand that this is one of the most critical local races this year as we push for greater representation and move to protect voting rights. We want to do everything we can to rally behind her and the rest of our candidates.

Join us for our first in-person event this summer, as we gather Houston-area stakeholders - elected officials, current candidates, and past and present members - to learn how we can work together to increase representation and invest in our community and its needs.

The PAC is back. Can we count on you to be there?
