Friend, In an organizational first, Courage California is endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for U.S. President! This is the first time our organization has endorsed in a presidential election and we’re proud to do so -- because the time is NOW for historic and unprecedented courageous change. In California, we have seen Vice President Harris’s commitment to progressive values firsthand. She has been a strong ally to the LGBTQ+ community, as seen through her efforts to ensure access to marriage equality at the city, state, and national levels. As District Attorney, Harris implemented a youth offender re-entry division and the Back on Track program, successfully prioritizing the rehabilitation and reintegration of youth and low-level offenders, and established the first environmental justice unit. As a U.S. Senator, she introduced the Climate Equity Act, and during her time as Attorney General, Harris fought for California homeowners during the foreclosure crisis, which resulted in a $20 billion settlement for California families. The 2024 presidential election will be incredibly consequential for the future of our freedoms, rights, and protections, and Vice President Kamala Harris’s record speaks volumes about her qualifications, and ability and willingness to lead with courage. Courage California is dedicated to supporting and electing candidates who will actively champion California’s most underserved communities and issues and communities, and we are especially excited to endorse a woman of color who reflects the diverse nation who she represents. Now, it's up to our membership to unite and turn out the vote for Harris on November 5th and elect the candidate best positioned to take on our nation’s challenges and divisiveness, and protect democracy.
