“Minnesotans can buy insulin for just $35 a month over the next 5 years under a state settlement with Eli Lilly” – Associated Press

John,

Far too many people in every corner of our state have struggled to afford their lives due to the outrageously high cost of insulin.

In 2018, the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office intervened and sued three insulin manufacturers for deceptive pricing that forced uninsured and underinsured Minnesotans to pay astronomically high out-of-pocket costs based on the list price of the life saving drug.

When the lawsuit was filed that year, the list price of a five-pack of Apidra in an injection pen was over $625. This week, I’m proud to announce that our office has reached another landmark settlement bringing that price for a month’s supply of pens down to just $35.

This is a big deal, John. This settlement ensures that insulin will be accessible and affordable to every Minnesotan who needs it and is a huge victory for all of the advocates and activists who’ve fought for years, far too often through tragedy, for this outcome.

As the People’s Lawyer, I will always have your back and fight to hold Big Pharma accountable. But I can’t do it alone.

If you’re able, please make a donation of $10, $25, $50, or more so we can keep fighting together to help people afford their lives and live with safety, dignity, and respect.
