Earlier this week, we asked WFP members to share some of your thinking behind your votes in our endorsement process. Here are just a few of the reasons that members like you gave for why you overwhelmingly voted to endorse Kamala Harris for President:
“Harris has worked to improve maternal health, she has met with dozens of foreign leaders, she has led the charge on reproductive rights. The Biden-Harris administration has helped so many of my friends by forgiving student loans, reducing the cost of insulin, and continuing the expansion of the child tax credit.” - Pamela C. from Alpharetta, GA
“If we are to beat the Project 2025 agenda, VP Harris is our best shot. I am excited about voting in November for the first time in many years and think we should endorse her.” - Althea A. from Albuquerque, NM
“We must protect the most vulnerable among us! That means blocking the fascist agenda and Donald Trump. It's as simple as that and right now Kamala Harris is the only functional vehicle that we have to blunt fascism, Project 2025, and the MAGA movement.” - Seth A. from Philadelphia, PA
“As a black woman, she fights for causes that I care deeply about and am impacted by the most.” - Tyneisha H. from San Francisco, CA
“When we choose between two futures, I want the one where the most pro-abortion access president in history has access to power, instead of the person who would deport immigrant communities, attack Black people, other people of color, and the working class, and take away even more rights from trans and LGBTQ+ people.” - Madeleine D. from New York, NY
“Vice President Harris is the country's best chance to defeat Trump. I have serious concerns about Harris, and sincerely hope she will advocate for more progressive policies and a ceasefire in Gaza‚ but despite those concerns she has my vote.” - Dan C. from Houston, TX
“Kamala es una mujer preparada y sera una buena contrincante para el criminal de Trump.” - Merline G. from Las Cruces, NM
“Working people need an administration where we can organize and build power. While not perfect, a Harris administration would give us the conditions where we could win on many levels. We do not want Trump's people in charge of addressing the tax act that is expiring in 2025.” - Jasmine B. from Washington, DC
“Kamala has been an ally and an advocate. She has acknowledged when her choices have been fumbled, but pushes forward to find a better way. I do believe Kamala will listen to those around her and continue striding forward towards a future I believe in.” - Audrea C. from Jeffersonville, IN
“With nearly all potential challengers declining to run and endorsing Kamala Harris, it is time to get behind her. The last two days have been an amazing display of energy and enthusiasm, and WFP can help to keep this going with an endorsement.” - Chris R. from Wauwatosa, WI
WFP members may differ on the reasons for their votes, but one thing we’re all clear on is this: we know that if we are going to build a government responsive to working people, we’ll first need to join together to defeat Trump and MAGA this fall.
And to do that, we’ll have to build a massive voter outreach program to knock on doors, hit the phones, get on the airwaves, and turn out voters across the country.
We did it in 2020, and we can do it again. But we can’t do it without you.
Are you with us? Then split a donation between Kamala Harris and the Working Families Party general election fund today, so we can kick start our voter turnout efforts and win in November.
