Dear John,
What Kamala Harris and her team have accomplished in the first days of her quest for the presidency is remarkable.
Her campaign speeches have been pitch-perfect. Social media is exploding with support for her. She’s already raised more than $130 million from well over 1
million unique donors and recruited 74,000 new volunteers.
But while Kamala’s campaign has been taking off, Donald Trump and his MAGA followers have launched vicious
misogynistic and racist attacks to tear her down.
Several
Republican members of Congress called her a “DEI hire,” only selected
because of her race and gender. J.D. Vance falsely attacked her for not having children (in fact, she’s
stepmother to two children from her husband’s first marriage). Trump’s 2016 campaign manager, Kellyanne
Conway, attacked her by calling her lazy, saying, “She does not speak
well. She does not work hard.”
It’s all straight out of the fascist’s playbook.
Appeal to your supporters’ most base hatreds. Scare voters by
“othering” your opponent.
I would be shocked and appalled if it weren’t,
unfortunately, all so predictable.
We’re now facing a 102-day sprint to save our democracy. Inequality Media Civic Action has a plan to reach millions of voters via TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and other social media platforms that I truly believe can play a key role in this election (more on that below).
To fully implement our plan to help defeat Trump, we’re counting on the financial support of grassroots supporters like you. Will you donate $3 a week to spread the truth and help Kamala Harris defeat Donald Trump?
Yes, Robert! I’ll start a weekly donation.
No, I’m sorry, I can’t chip in weekly.
Here at Inequality Media Civic Action, we’ve spent years building up our following across social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram where so many undecided voters — especially young people — get their news.
And over the last few months, we’ve been scientifically testing videos to figure out the most effective messages to persuade the voters we need to win.
Now it’s go-time, when we must get our most compelling and effective videos in front of the tens of millions of undecided voters who will decide this election.
This is especially vital work because Trump has a huge head start over Vice President Harris on these platforms. For instance, at the moment Joe Biden dropped out, Trump had 9 million followers on TikTok, compared to less than 500,000 for Kamala HQ.
As one of the few progressive groups with a social media audience expansive enough to help cut into Trump’s advantage, we have an opportunity to play a key role in this fight. But we’re counting on your help to ensure that we have the resources to help keep Trump from ever setting foot in the Oval Office again.
Will you donate $3 a week to spread the truth and help Kamala Harris defeat Donald Trump?
Yes, Robert! I’ll start a weekly donation.
No, I’m sorry, I can’t chip in weekly.
Thank you for joining with us,
Robert Reich
