Jimmy Gomez just gave a masterclass in performative politics.

Yesterday, noted-war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu gave a speech to Congress full of disinformation, unfounded claims, and outright lies.

This speech made it abundantly clear that Netanyahu and his war cabinet are not acting as good faith partners in ceasefire negotiations. It was so obvious that my opponent immediately put out a statement calling on Netanyahu to resign over his clear opposition to a ceasefire deal.

Yet Gomez himself has refused to sign on to H.Res.786, Rep. Cori Bush’s resolution for a ceasefire.

The hypocrisy of it all is such an insult to the people of Los Angeles and Americans everywhere who are angry and sickened to see billions of dollars and American weapons funneled to Israel to perpetuate Netanyahu’s war crimes – money and weapons that Jimmy Gomez has voted for, repeatedly.

Jimmy’s number one donor this cycle is the powerful lobby American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), and over the course of his relatively short career in Congress he has taken more than $250K in campaign contributions from AIPAC and the other groups in the pro-Israel lobby.

Most damning of all was the fact Jimmy was spotted on C-SPAN clapping for Netanyahu during his speech:

Jimmy Gomez can’t hide behind performative statements when he’s literally applauding a war criminal – and sending him weapons to continue his genocide.

I’m running for Congress because Jimmy Gomez isn’t fighting for us. He’s fighting for the corporations and corrupt special interests lining his pocket. Yesterday, after seeing his empty statement, I immediately called on Jimmy to stand behind his stated principles: Either sign on as a co-sponsor to H.Res 786 – or resign. Today.

Over 63% of Democrats (and a majority of all Americans) support an immediate ceasefire, and our congressman isn’t listening.

If Jimmy refuses to step up and refuses to resign, we can deliver our response in November and vote him out.
