GETTY Who is Vice President Kamala Devi Harris?
Vice President Kamala Devi Harris was born in Oakland, California, on October 20, 1964. Harris is the daughter of immigrants. Her father is a Jamaican economics professor and her mother was a scientist working on breast cancer, who came to the United States from India at the age of 19 and then received her doctorate the same year that Kamala was born.
Her whole career path from law to politics has been defined by many firsts. She was the first Indian American senator and California’s first female andSouth Asian attorney general.
Speaking of her mother ten years after her passing, Harris said:
"My mother would look at me and she’d say, ‘Kamala, you may be the first to do many things, but make sure you are not the last.'"- January 28, 2019 ([link removed]
On January 20, 2021, Kamala Harris was sworn in as Vice President of the United States – the first woman, the first Black American, and the first South Asian American to be elected to this position.
Now, as momentum builds ([link removed] to position her as the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential nominee, Harris could be on the cusp of becoming the country’s first female president.

PA Lt. Gov. Austin Davis Says He’s Ready to Step Up If Josh Shapiro Becomes Vice President. ([link removed]

Interviews with Democratic delegates found more support for Shapiro and Kelly than any other candidates.
“As Ms. Harris turns her attention to selecting a running mate, the interviews show no clear consensus among this group of party insiders over whom she should pick: 16 percent of respondents said it should be Josh Shapiro, the governor of Pennsylvania, and 11 percent said Mark Kelly, the senator from Arizona. Kamala Harris' campaign says it raised more than $100 million after launch
“The campaign said earlier it took in $81 million in the 24 hours after Mr. Biden dropped out. "Pennsylvania’s highest court will weigh in on the legality of Pittsburgh’s tax on out-of-town athletes and performers. In an order issued Monday, the state Supreme Court said it would hear arguments about whether lower courts misinterpreted a constitutional requirement that taxes be levied uniformly." The Philly team is now on the ground, as we moved into our office at 29th & Cecil B. Moore earlier this week. The team walked the surrounding blocks, introduced themselves to the neighborhood, and registered Philadelphians to vote!
There’s a special election for the vacated state representative seats in the 195th and 201st districts. The election will take place on September 17th.
Starting Monday, July 29th, the Philly NPP office will be open daily. Stop by if you need registered to vote or need to check your voter status!

“Regarding the provisional ballots, Walsh is contesting a Commonwealth Court decision that granted Cabell’s request to count a Butler Township ballot cast by Cabell’s cousin, Shane O’Donnell, and reject a ballot cast by Lake Township voter Timothy J.
