We hope you've been enjoying our new scoreboard! Starting today, we'll be tracking the lawsuits filed differently. We'll be tallying the active lawsuits that have been filed this cycle, not the total number of lawsuits filed this cycle, as we did previously.

Since Jan. 1, 2023
Starting this weekend, members will receive a more in-depth litigation scorecard that gives a weekly snapshot of the top states and issues and the number of decisions we're waiting on. Upgrade for $120/year ([link removed]) to get these stats sent straight to your inbox.

Democrats push back against the Supreme Court’s extreme, dangerous decisions
* Rep. Joe Morelle (D-N.Y.) introduced ([link removed]) a constitutional amendment in the House to reverse the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling granting presidents immunity from criminal prosecution, saying the amendment will "correct a grave error" and "protect our democracy." 49 House Democrats are co-sponsoring the amendment.
* Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) has renewed ([link removed]) a push to expand the U.S. Supreme Court from 9 to 13 justices, saying the "far-right majority" has pushed the Court into a "crisis of confidence and legitimacy." This comes after President Biden announced his support for SCOTUS reform.

Top Republican state officials continue to attack voting rights
* In their latest anti-democratic brief, 14 GOP attorneys general defended ([link removed]) Louisiana's struck-down legislative maps by arguing that the Voting Rights Act's prohibition on racial discrimination is unconstitutional.
* Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose (R) published ([link removed]) a list of over 150,000 voters who could be purged from the state's rolls before the 2024 election. Civil rights groups say the purge disproportionately targets voters of color.

Alaska and Idaho ballot initiatives challenged in court
* It was confirmed ([link removed]) that an initiative seeking to repeal Alaska’s voter-approved ranked choice voting and open primary systems has sufficient signatures to appear on the November ballot, despite a judge disqualifying 3,000 petition signatures last week.
* Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador (R) sued ([link removed]) to block an initiative from appearing on the November ballot that would create an open primary system in the state, allowing all voters — regardless of party registration — to vote for any candidate.

Pro-voting group intervenes in Trump campaign’s Michigan case
* A pro-voter group moved ([link removed]) to defend Michigan's voter registration sites from a legal challenge by the RNC and Trump campaign who are contesting voter registration at the state's Veterans Affairs and Small Business Administration agencies.

Artificial intelligence is threatening election security
* Election security threats are higher than ever thanks to the evolution of generative AI. We spoke with Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson (D), Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes (D) and NewDEAL CEO Debbie Cox Bultan about how officials are working together to combat disinformation ahead of the 2024 election. Watch the full interview here. ([link removed])
