Wisconsin Family Council Launches New Ministry
Not your typical summer camp!
Wisconsin Family Council believes a key element in restoring a culture’s society is raising up Christians who are equipped with godly character to be leaders in their families, churches, schools, and professions.
Julaine Appling, president of WFC, visited LEAD Michigan in 2019.
She observed LEAD MI in action and was struck by the unique and dynamic experience it offered.
She knew Wisconsin Family Council needed to bring the program to Wisconsin.
And now, here we are!
EMPOWERING YOUTH TO CHANGE THEIR WORLD
Who: Ages 13-19
When: August 2-7, 2020
Where: Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown, WI
WHAT IS LEAD? Well, it's definitely not your typical summer camp!
At LEAD WI, we believe the best time to start being a leader is NOW, and the best way to learn is to DO IT! That’s why we’re launching an authentic leadership simulation where high-school students have the opportunity to experience the roles of community leaders first-hand in their state capitol. Mix that in with engaging Biblical worldview discussions and teaching sessions faith-building worship, compelling chapel, a hearty dose of recreational activities, and lifelong relationships built throughout the week… and you’ve got a pretty good idea of what LEAD WI looks like!
>>>>>Julaine Appling, WFC president, SharaLee Nichols, LEAD WI Director and Dave Lingle, WFC Church Ambassador get together to candidly share about this exciting new ministry - WATCH HERE!

At this time, as we continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation. We are still planning on having LEAD WI as scheduled this Summer. If that changes, we will provide adequate notice and will fully refund any registration fees.
HELP US REACH OUR GOAL OF 10,000
Tell Governor Evers: "Open Wisconsin for Business!"
Given that the numbers reported regularly by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services show we have definitely “flattened” the COVID-19 curve, we believe it is prudent for the Governor to begin opening the state again in significant ways rather than extending the very stringent shut down for an additional 30 days. Last Friday, Wisconsin Family Action launched a petition to the governor--and that petition has been immensely popular.
"Wisconsin was built on the understanding that our right to support our families through work, to engage in trade and reap the rewards of our labors and to worship freely are fundamental, God-given rights.
We know that elected officials at all levels of Wisconsin’s government are concerned about the public health and welfare, and we appreciate that. We all need to use common sense and take precautions in the midst of the pandemic. But heavy-handed government orders that interfere with our most basic liberties are certain to do more harm than good to Wisconsin citizens, especially our state's best natural resource, our families."
If you haven't already signed our petition to Governor Evers, CLICK HERE to help us reach our goal of 10,000 by TOMORROW, FRIDAY, April 22. We are VERY CLOSE to this goal!

Oh Where, Oh Where Have the Ballots Gone?
Recently the Wisconsin Elections Commission voted unanimously to look into what happened to tens of thousands of absentee ballots in the recent election. One plan the Commission agreed on is to use a $7 million federal grant to add bar codes to ballots going forward, making it easier to track where ballots are in the mailing and voting process. However, there was no support to investigate why Milwaukee reduced the number of polling places from 180 to 5, and why the city refused to use National Guard troops to help as poll workers.

Julaine Appling, WFA president, says, "Every Wisconsin voter deserves to be confident that their ballot is accurately counted and that everything possible is being done to stop election fraud. The Wisconsin Elections Commission must leave no stone unturned in investigating what happened to these thousands of absentee ballots as well as why Milwaukee so drastically cut the number of polling places."
Home Schooling Should Be Vigorously Defended in WI
Erin O’Donnell writing for Harvard Magazine recently interviewed Harvard Law Professor Elizabeth Bartholet who believes homeschooling should be not just more heavily regulated but prohibited. Bartholet says parents educating their kids at home is too risky, going so far as to say, “…do we think…parents should have 24/7, essentially authoritarian control over their children from ages zero to 18? I think that’s dangerous.” She believes homeschooled children are deprived a meaningful education, puts them at risk of child abuse and might keep them from contributing positively to society.

"So this is someone educating future lawyers who often become lawmakers," says Julaine Appling. "We need to pay attention. The right to homeschool in Wisconsin needs to be vigorously defended and protected. We’ve been doing that since 1986, shortly after the homeschool law was passed here in 1983. Parents need to be aware and alert—and ready to stand up for their rights. As always, the price of freedom is eternal vigilance."
