We have an important update for you. Alexandria’s legislation, the Defiance Act, just unanimously passed the Senate.
Over 90% of all deepfake videos made are nonconsensual sexually explicit images and 9 times out of 10, women are the target.
So, Alexandria worked closely with abuse survivors to introduce the Disrupt Explicit Forged Images and Non-Consensual Edits (DEFIANCE) Act in the House of Representatives.
Alexandria is committed to doing everything she can to pass the legislation through the House, send it to the President’s desk, and give survivors the ability to seek the justice they deserve.
If the Defiance Act is passed, victims could sue anyone who ‘knew or recklessly disregarded’ their consent when they created, shared, or received the deepfake pornography.
