Hi John,
The magnitude of President Biden’s decision to step down and endorse Kamala Harris is truly beginning to set in. We are on the cusp of electing the first Black woman to serve as President of the United States.
Sometimes it’s hard for me to wrap my head around how much progress we’ve made in just a couple of generations. John, I grew up during segregation in North Carolina – a future in Congress only existed in my wildest dreams.
Community engagement has always been a cornerstone of my life, but due to systemic barriers growing up, pursuing a career in politics didn’t feel attainable. Now it’s 2024, I’m representing NC-04 in Congress, and we have the opportunity to elect the first Black woman as president in November.
Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign is not only inspiring, but it is groundbreaking. As I enter the final months of my re-election campaign, I feel immense gratitude and an even greater motivation to finish stronger than ever. July is nearing its close, and my team has set a goal to raise $10,000 before the end of the month. I know we can achieve this, John: Will you please pitch in $ or anything you can today? As a Black woman, I’ve had to push through countless obstacles to prove I’m capable of doing this work. I’ve known since I was a little girl that I am capable of changing the world around me, but I had to grow up in a world that didn’t believe I was worthy of that.
This journey hasn’t been easy, John. But every single ache and pain pays off when I see the progress being made in my home district and rippling through the nation. That’s why I do what I do.
When you send me back to Congress, that’s what I’ll continue to do. This election is an opportunity to make history, save our democracy, and prioritize people . There has never been a more important time to contribute $ or anything you can. John, can you pitch in ahead of Wednesday’s midnight deadline? [[link removed]]
