I was pleased to join local and elected Sacramento County, Rancho Cordova, Elk Grove, and Folsom officials to celebrate the $25,000,000 federal grant my office worked to secure for the Capital SouthEast Connector project.

After years of advocacy for this project, I am proud to celebrate this great achievement for Sacramento County and the positive impact it will have on road safety, improving mobility and connectivity, and supporting economic development in neighboring communities.

I look forward to my continued partnership with the Capital SouthEast Connector JPA to fully implement this project.

It was great attending the Sacramento Regional Transit District's groundbreaking ceremony for the Watt/I-80 Transit Center Improvement Project.

As our community continues to grow, it is imperative that we invest in infrastructure that supports sustainable transportation options.

I've been proud to do my part in Congress by voting for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to invest in modernizing and repairing our infrastructure in Sacramento County.

The improvements at the Watt/I-80 Transit Center will improve the connection between Sacramento Regional Transit District and Placer County Transit, making it easier for residents to access reliable transit services, while helping to reduce traffic and improve air quality in our region.

I attended the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Tillotson Parkway Park. 

In 2022, I helped secure over $300,000 in federal funds to complete the final phase of Tillotson Parkway. This new park is located at the end of the 4.5-mile long Tillotson Parkway, connecting communities, parks and trails all the way to Power Inn Road.

I’m excited to see this project come to fruition and I look forward to seeing you out on the trail soon!

I spoke at AmeriCorps’ Inaugural National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) Forest Corps Induction Ceremony. 

Before the event, I participated in a roundtable with AmeriCorps Members in the Forest Corps. 

The AmeriCorps NCCC Forest Corps is one of the first interagency partnerships under President Biden's American Climate Corps initiative.

This Forest Corps was established to address the nation’s wildfire crisis, as well as to provide extensive training and hands-on experiences to develop leadership skills for future careers in natural resource management, forest health, and climate resilience. 

I was inspired by these young leaders and their commitment to preserving our environment for generations to come!

In other news, I was proud to announce that the U.S. Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Low or No Emission Grant Program awarded the Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) with a $76,847,678 grant for their Zero-Emission Buses, Fueling, and Workforce Development Project. 

I was pleased to work with SacRT and U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to secure funds for this critical project. 

This funding will not only help transition Sacramento’s public transportation system to cleaner, more efficient technology, but it will also create good-paying jobs, improve service reliability, and contribute to improved air quality for our community.

This project is a significant step forward in our region’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, and I look forward to seeing its positive impact as SacRT works towards an entirely zero-emission fleet within the decade.
