This is what momentum feels like! Just four days into Kamala Harris’s presidential run, her campaign reported that tens of thousands of people have already signed up to volunteer, donate, and go all in to defeat Trump. 

There’s a lot to be excited about – especially Harris’s strong record as a climate and environmental champion. Here are 5 reasons she earned our endorsement:

- She helped lead the strongest climate and environmental administration in history. The Biden-Harris Administration took more than 300 actions to protect the environment and combat climate change.1 As Vice President, she cast the tie-breaking vote to pass unprecedented investments in clean energy and jobs through the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act. 
- She will hold corporate polluters accountable. As a presidential candidate in 2020, she pledged to reject campaign contributions from fossil fuel lobbyists and laid out a bold climate platform to ensure corporate polluters were held accountable for the damage they cause to our communities and the climate. 
- She protected frontline communities from pollution. As District Attorney of San Francisco, Harris started the city’s first environmental protection unit in 2005 to protect communities from big polluters, noting that “crimes against the environment are crimes against communities, people who are often poor and disenfranchised.”
- She championed environmental justice with the introduction of the Climate Equity Act. As Senator, she introduced pro-environment bills including the Water Justice Act, the Clean School Bus Act, the Living Shorelines Act, the 21st Century SKILLS Act, and the Outdoors for All Act, among others.
- She is the climate leader we need. Her 2020 platform set ambitious goals to invest $10 trillion in clean energy, electrify transportation, and transition us to a clean-energy future. That’s exactly the kind of leadership we need to accelerate the urgent work of transitioning to a just, thriving, clean-energy economy.

We’re up against a lot, and we know this won’t be easy. But we have momentum on our side, and a grassroots movement that’s ready to fight hard for the next three months.
