Dear John,
We are living through a time that history books will analyze long into the future. How that history will be recorded, however, is up to us. Our challenge in navigating this turbulence is to ensure that history records how democracy and the rule of law were preserved.
At LDAD, we remain singularly focused on that preservation. For example, our efforts to seek accountability for lawyers who violated applicable ethics requirements in seeking to overturn the 2020 election continue with detailed complaints [[link removed]] against Kurt Olsen, filed with the Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission and the District of Columbia’s Office of Disciplinary Counsel. These complaints, in partnership with States United Democracy Center and with support from more than a dozen legal and ethics experts, seek sanctions for Mr. Olsen’s repeated disregard of his obligations in representing election deniers in multiple frivolous lawsuits based on false and misleading claims.
Our focus on the Supreme Court and its extremist majority continues. Our Executive Director wrote about this for The Fulcrum: The Supreme Court and the Rule of Law. [[link removed]]
It is with great pride that we share with you the news that LDAD co-founder and board chair, Scott Harshbarger, was selected by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly as a 2024 “Hall of Fame” honoree. Scott is a former two-term Massachusetts Attorney General and Senior Counsel to the law firm of Casner & Edwards. Scott is an exemplar of the best of the legal profession, and LDAD benefits each day from his wisdom, his dedication to democracy and the rule of law, and his efforts to engage the legal profession in achieving the best of its ideals.
Please support our efforts by donating to LDAD [[link removed]] , and sending this email to your networks to request their support as well. As always, please also feel free to reach out to us at
