[1]Eugene Vindman for Congress

On this day, 5 years ago, Trump made the corrupt phone call that forever altered the lives of me and my twin brother.

On July 25, 2019, my brother Alexander Vindman listened as President Trump attempted to extort our ally Ukraine, a country at war, by withholding military aid unless President Zelenskyy investigated Joe Biden.

At the time, I was serving as the senior ethics official at the National Security Council in the White House. After Alex reported the call to me, my brother and I made the fateful decision to do our patriotic duty and stand up to Donald Trump at the risk of our decades-long military careers.

We blew the whistle on him and reported his corrupt phone call with Ukraine up the chain of command. Our actions eventually led to his impeachment, and Trump retaliated by firing us from our posts.

The decision to blow the whistle on Donald Trump cost my brother and me our military careers. But over two decades ago, I swore an oath to protect our country and our Constitution from threats, foreign and domestic, and I would not let Trump deter me from that duty.

So I decided to run for Congress in Virginia to fight back against Trump and the far-right Republicans who enable his abuse of power and attacks on our Democracy.

But this race is one of the most competitive in the country, and my MAGA opponent has the backing of Trump and his millions of dollars. It’s not going to be easy to win.

So today, on the 5th anniversary of the day that changed my and my brother’s lives, I am asking you to support my pro-democracy movement and protect this seat from my extremist opponent.

Can you please contribute whatever you can afford to my campaign for Congress today? Every dollar will help us fight against MAGA extremism.

Five years ago, my life changed forever. I chose to defend our democracy, and today, I still live by that purpose. So this November, when we take down extremism at the ballot box, know that I could not have done it without you.

Thank you,

Eugene Vindman
