Why is a guy from New Jersey talking about Texas?

Three reasons:

1. Ted Cruz would undermine our democracy – he's already refused to say

Republicans in the Senate are working everyday to cut Medicare and
Social Security and take away reproductive freedoms in every corner of
America.

With our current slim majority in the Senate, my Democratic colleagues
and I have been able to hold back the worst of the GOP's extreme agenda,
but there's no doubt in my mind that if they win back the majority, they
will go even further in rolling back our rights and cutting crucial
assistance to American families.

I also know this: We have a chance to
prevent all of these awful scenarios from happening – if we help Colin
Allred win in Texas.

I've seen how hard Colin has worked since being elected to Congress in
2018. He's made a name for himself as the kind of guy who will keep
showing up every day to fight for a better future for the communities he
represents.

That's why I'm doing everything in my power to help elect Colin and
