friend,

Good morning, and welcome to our weekly digest of current volunteer legal projects.

We have over 85 legal projects that need your help:

11—20 HOURS

Serve as a Poll Worker!

Power the Polls

Power the Polls, a nonpartisan initiative for recruiting the next generation of poll workers, seeks volunteer poll workers to help ensure a free, fair, and safe election for all voters. Interested lawyers and law students should sign up with Power the Polls at powerthepolls.org/wetheaction. Then, interested applicants will be directed to their local election administrator's website to complete their application. Power the Polls will provide guidance throughout the process. Lawyers may have any bar license and the project is open to law students.

6—10 HOURS

Help Service Dog Nonprofit Obtain 501(c)(3) Status

Your Hearing Dog Inc

Your Hearing Dog Inc provides specially trained service dogs to the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community. They would like to file for their own tax exempt designation and need a lawyer to help guide them through the process. This is a remote project, and lawyers may be barred in any state.

1—5 HOURS

Review and Comment on Material Transfer Agreement

Cure HHT

Cure HHT supports and provides educational services to patients and families with the rare blood vessel disease, HHT. They need someone to review their Material Transfer Agreement to ensure it covers all anticipated events, and also to propose a clause for Rights and Intellectual Property that will be generally accepted by all institutions. This is a remote project, and lawyers may be barred in any state.

6—10 HOURS

Pro Bono Attorneys Needed to Defend Election Officials

Election Official Legal Defense Network

EOLDN works to provide election officials with pro bono attorneys in response to the increasing wave of harassments, threats, and state laws subjecting them to criminal penalties for performing their jobs. Lawyers are needed to provide legal assistance to current and former U.S. election officials, election administrators, and poll workers regardless of political affiliation. This is a remote project, and lawyers may be barred in any state.

On July 30 at 6pm ET, we will be hosting a WTA website demo for new volunteers to learn how to access their profile, explore the website, and find projects. You can register here. If you have other questions, set up a meeting with Oakey Daskas at the link here.

Best,
