Speaking of the green energy bust, the poor EV industry has shifted gears into reverse. The more politicians (like Joe Biden and Euro greens) bully people into buying them and companies into making them, the more the industry crashes.
The latest episode of this tale comes from Germany, where politicians commanded Porsche to build more EVs to save the planet. Porsche executives dutifully saluted and vowed that 80% of its new vehicle sales would be electric by 2030.
But now it's shifted into reverse and insists sales will be dependent on consumer demand and how car technology improves. Porsche's EV sales fell 51% in the first half of 2024.
Same old story that we've told about Ford Motor, General Motors, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Renault, and Aston Martin.
Meanwhile, Tesla's stock has crashed due to big sales declines.
We have nothing against EVs. But force-feeding them to consumers through mandates before the technology is fully ready is going to create shortages of internal combustion vehicles and hurt the image and branding of EVs. Their insurance costs are high, minor bumps can lead to massive repair bills and people are getting stranded in the middle of nowhere when the battery gets drained. They keep searching for Pete Buttigieg's mythical charging stations that don't exist.
To paraphrase the title of the old Ralph Nader consumer book, most EVs are "Unready For Prime Time."
We reported last week the outrageous statistic that only 6% of federal workers have reported back to work in the office 40 hours a week despite that COVID ended three years ago and in open defiance of orders to get back to work.
Few agencies have worse attendance records than the Environmental Protection Agency.
Rows of empty office cubicles have convinced EPA honchos to transfer some of its empty prime real estate to other agencies, including even its huge headquarters building. Some of these offices may even get sold to private parties.
EPA's space in the Federal Triangle area costs more than $90 million a year and accounts for 40 percent of the agency's lease costs, even though it now sits mostly empty.
Federal rules require agencies to report facilities that are not meeting a 60% occupancy rate.
"To meet a 60% occupancy rate, EPA would have to release multiple buildings in the Federal Triangle," one EPA director has concluded.
Let's hope other federal agencies follow suit. Last year the Government Accountability Office found 17 out of 24 agencies used 25% or less of their office space.
There are today roughly 2.25 million federal employees. Surely that number could be cut in half, given that most Americans who work hard should feel enraged that they are paying the salaries of people who are hardly working.
At least someone on the left still believes in democracy. Who would have thought it would be Black Lives Matter Global? Here's their complaint, which makes some sense to us:
Following the primary where millions of Black voters weighed in, after one poor debate performance, the DNC Party elites and billionaire donors bullied Joe Biden out of the race.
Now, Democratic Party elites and billionaire donors are attempting to manipulate Black voters by anointing Kamala Harris and an unknown vice president as the new Democratic ticket without a primary vote by the public. This blatant disregard for democratic principles is unacceptable. While the potential outcome of a Harris presidency may be historic, the process to achieve it must align with true democratic values. We have no idea where Kamala Harris stands on the issues, now that she has assumed Joe Biden's place, and we have no idea of the record of her potential vice president because we don't even know who it is yet...
We do not live in a dictatorship. Delegates are not oligarchs. Any attempt to evade or override the will of voters in our primary system--no matter how historic the candidate--must be condemned. We demand an informal, virtual snap primary now that the incumbent president is no longer in the running.
5) Media Claims Kamala Was Never Border Czar – Except When They Called Her “Border Czar”
This is a fun story of historical revisionism from the friends of Kamala in the media. They are now claiming that Republicans are fabricating this story of Kamala as "Border Czar."
So it's not her fault. Got that? And after all, if she were the border czar, wouldn't she have actually spent some time AT the border? Good point.
What we have here is the media splitting hairs. Her official title was not border czar. We did some checking and nobody since Nicolas II has held the official title of Czar. But Biden did appoint Harris on March 24, 2021, to take the lead on border policy, which he said included "enhancing migration enforcement."
And everybody in the media – not just Republicans referred to her as border czar – including the New York Times, which reported Harris replaced previous border czar Roberta Jacobson:
Our friends at the Media Research Center produced this useful before and after video:
We also remember the stories of Kamala fuming at the White House that she had been given the impossible task of securing the border. Under her watch illegal immigration more than quadrupled.
