*Gov. Reynolds releases statement after U.S District Court issues injunction against Title IX rule* DES MOINES— Gov. Kim Reynolds today issued the following statement after a federal judge has blocked changes to Title IX rules issued by the Biden-Harris administration to change the definition of “sex” to “gender identity” which would allow access to bathrooms and locker rooms based on gender identification. Iowa joined the states of Missouri, Arkansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota in filing a lawsuit on May 7 opposing the rule. “Another federal judge has blocked the Biden-Harris administration’s attempt to apply Title IX protections intended for girls to biological boys who identify as girls. The definitions of “sex” and “gender identity” are different, just as biological males and females are different. I’m proud that Iowa is part of this lawsuit and I’ll never stop defending the rights of women of all ages.” # # #
