Executive Directors Message
Recently there have been a series of break-ins in northeast Illinois within 50 miles of the Illinois-Indiana border. Farmer’s machine sheds have been the targets. Most of the stolen equipment are tractors and combines that have very expensive parts that can be resold or scrapped for a very high price. The new machinery includes platinum in the catalytic converters as well as very
sophisticated electronics. The robbers destroy the machinery in the process. For those of you who are reading this in a city, we are talking about machinery costing between $300,000 to a $1,000,000. As with any crime spree, the criminals are becoming bolder and, in this case, are starting to target homes. Sooner or later someone will be home and will get hurt. Last Friday, we had a report about a break-in at a home and in this case the police would not come out and
investigate the crime. With what is going on in the country, I think this type of activity will become more frequent and dangerous. I want everyone to think about this and be prepared. I would prepare today, not tomorrow or next week.
You should have a good gun safe in your home if you haven’t already got one, as well as one or more small safes around the house so you have a gun nearby. Alarms are also a great idea. Be prepared, be trained and be ready. That goes for everyone in your home. I have had the experience of waking up and finding someone uninvited in my house. He or she got away but it is something you will never forget. Fortunately, my roommate, Mr. Colt, was staying with me when it happened. A few weeks later I was not home and someone broke into my work van and stole a set of my tools. If you think it cannot happen to you, you’re wrong. Some of you might be familiar with the name Wes Doss. Wes is a famous firearm trainer and author of two books on the subject of self-defense. Wes suffered a stroke and while in the hospital was allegedly dropped and struck his head on the floor. He has been in a coma for three weeks. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. The Wuhan Virus, aka Covid-19, was developed in a Chinese laboratory and was apparently modified to be transmitted to humans. This same laboratory deals with other pathogens as well. Strangely, they were not working on vaccines or cures should someone contract this virus. It is also interesting to note that once the Wuhan Virus got into the Chinese population, airplanes were not allowed to fly from Wuhan to the rest of China but were allowed to fly internationally. It is also known that the CIA and other intelligence agencies from around the globe are watching the Wuhan Virology Laboratory. It is obvious that what happened with the Wuhan Virus is all very innocent. I’m sure the Chinese would never work on anything related to biological warfare. Not to worry, it’s just the Red Chinese being Red Chinese again. You feel better now don’t you? In Hillsborough County, Florida, more than 100 inmates were released because of the latest sacred social distancing. We must protect our precious criminals after all. James Edward Williams, 26, had been arrested more than 35 times but was released to protect him from the Covid-19 virus. Within 24 hours, Williams killed a man. He is back in jail charged with second degree murder, resisting an officer, felony possession of a firearm, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wait till they throw the social distancing charge at him, that will show him! What a shame because he was just getting his life together, about to matriculate for medical school and volunteer at the local mission, etc. In New York, Mayor Bill de Blasio was surprised to find out that inmates who were released because of the Coronavirus went back to committing crimes. They picked up right where they left off. The national average for criminals released from prison or jail is that 68% of them are back in prisons within a year. Remember this does not count crimes where no one was caught. In Chicago, several years ago, there was a study of people who had committed murder. It was found that 88% of them had a criminal record. So why don’t, or won’t, these public officials recognize these facts? The facts don’t fit into the narrative required by their political beliefs, so they just ignore the facts. Murderers, rapists, child molesters, or whatever their crime, it does seem to matter that they are letting them out. This nonsense puts you and your loved ones at risk while those who are doing the releasing hide comfortably behind their armed guards that you and I pay for. I have been receiving comments questioning why the ISRA doesn’t file suit to invalidate the FOID card. That is what the Vivian Brown suit is about. The Illinois Supreme Court remanded the Brown case back to the White County Circuit Court. So, we have to start over. As far as the delays in issuing FOIDs and ICCLs right now, the ISP requested all FOIDs and ICCLs remain valid until 12 months after the Coronavirus pandemic is declared over. This is, of course, if you don’t do bad stuff that would get you disqualified from firearm ownership. The ISRA has been working on such a case for a long time. Right now, the ISP has ruled that all FOIDs and ICCLs that are under review or not yet submitted for renewal are valid. It would be unproductive to file a case at this time. The ISRA is always in it to win it. Right now, with a few exceptions, the courts are closed so we couldn’t file the case anyway. Another thing you should remember is the ISRA makes elephants look like they have Alzheimer’s, we never ever forget. Reminder: June 4-7, Massad Ayoob MAG-40, Kankakee, IL $1000 This is an intense, four-day, 40-hour immersion course in the “rules of engagement” for armed law-abiding private citizens. The course emphasizes legal issues, tactical issues, and aftermath management. Topics will include interacting with suspects, witnesses, responding police officers, threat recognition and mind-set, and the management of the social and psychological aftermath of having to use lethal force in defense of self or others. Also covered is preparing beforehand for legal repercussions and minimizing your exposure to them. Situations in the home, at the place of business, or “on the street” will all be covered. Range work will include instruction in the use of the defensive handgun under extreme stress. Drawing from concealment, two-handed stances, shooting from cover, one-handed stances with either hand, speed reloading, and more are taught with an overall emphasis on fast, accurate shot placement. The course will culminate with a written examination covering the classroom topics and a police-style handgun qualification course. 500 rounds. No prerequisite. Contact Andy Kemp at 208-771-3413 or www.MidwestTrainingGroup.net or [email protected] I have been thinking about starting a new magazine. The name of it will be Lust to Dominate magazine. I already have the first two front covers picked out. The first cover will be Gretchen Whitmer, Governor of Michigan. The second issue cover is Phil Murphy, Governor of New Jersey, who never considered the existence of the Bill of Rights. Who is your pick for the next magazine cover? Let me know.
