Reading Group is meeting tonight, but the reading is short, and even if you can't finish it, you should join us for the conversation!
In his new book, "The Socialist Manifesto: The Case for Radical Politics in an Era of Extreme Inequality," Sunkara explores socialism's history since the mid-1800s and presents a realistic vision for its future, and why the socialist tradition still matters today. The discussion will be over the last chapter, which generally stands alone and can be read that way.
Because there is a sense that Bhaskar's book is a little too Western centric, we are also recommending reading the supplemental "Settler Colonialism Then and Now: A Conversation between J. Kehaulani and Patrick Wolfe."
For non-distributional purposes only (of course), you can download an electronic copy of Bhaskar's book here and the
Kehaulani and Wolfe conversation here. You can also purchase a hard copy of the book from Verso.
This meeting is open to members and non-members alike.
