Dear Free Software Supporter,
Since the start of our membership drive, **167** new associate members
have joined the Free Software Foundation in advocating for free software!
It's incredibly inspiring to see an uptick in our membership because
it tells us that we're not fighting for software freedom alone, and
that we have a strong community dedicated to securing a free future.
Unfortunately, we're still a little short of our goal.
We humbly extend a final ask to help us welcome **thirty-three** new associate
members to our community by **July 26**. With your help, we are
confident that we can reach our goal of 200 new associate members, and
increase our strength to fight for software freedom for everyone. We
started the associate member program in November 2002 to help support
our work and ensure a continuous commitment to the community we serve.
200 new associate members do not fill our budgetary gap, but they
certainly demonstrate community commitment, which also motivates our
team! Without members, we would not be able to carry out the important
work the FSF does for the free software movement.
We know not everyone is in a position to, but if you can, **will you
support our efforts by [joining the FSF as an associate member][5]**?
An associate membership is a great show of support we can rely on.
With your help, we are able to develop, maintain, update, and spread
resources that people in the free software community and beyond use
everyday. As an FSF associate member, you'll be part of a vibrant
international community and be able to enjoy all the associate [member
benefits][9], such as access to the [FSF's Jitsi Meet server][10], 20%
discount on FSF merchandise, and email forwarding. Every new associate
membership this spring will receive a FSF thermal mug as a welcome
gift and help us achieve our goal of **200 new associate members by
July 26**. Need more reasons to join? Have a look at our [appeal
page][6] or email us at <

Standing up for user freedom is no small feat, and we're only
able to because of caring and passionate individuals such as yourself.
Your support empowers us to [promote computer user freedom][11],
[protect the GNU General Public License (GPL)][12], and continue
improving free software. We consistently advocate for, promote, and
provide education on free software in our publications, including the
[*Free Software Bulletin*][14] and our newest volume of the [*Free
Software Supporter*][15]. We're also working tirelessly to improve
ourselves as an organization, and are very proud of the three new
[board members][13] we recently added.

There are many ways, if you are willing and able, to help us meet
our goal. If you are on [microblog][17], please help us promote and
share free software by using the hashtag
**#BecomeAnFSFAssociateMember**. If you write for a blog, please also
consider mentioning our work as well as the associate membership
drive. And, whether you're on microblog or not, please continue to
share the message of [free software via word of mouth][18]. Another great
way to get the word out is by displaying [free software advocacy
materials][1] at your local community center or giving out stickers
(we have a great selection in our [shop][2] as well as [printable
stickers][3] on our resource page).

We still have a long way to go to protect user freedom now and
into the future. With your help, we can bring more people into the
free software space and expand our efforts to improve and spread free
software even further. We need everyone involved, not only to support
our mission, but to bring new viewpoints that ensure we're truly
working for user freedom for *everyone*. Let's work together to ensure
a truly free world.
Yours in freedom,
Eko K. A. Owen
