This past weekend, Joe Biden made the patriotic decision to put our democracy first and suspend his presidential campaign.
One thing is clear: Michigan is more important than ever to winning the White House this November. Our ever-so swingy swing state was the tipping point in 2016, the tipping point in 2020, and will likely be the deciding factor once again this November.
It’s no secret that this is a historic moment in our nation’s history and an inflection point in our race: Because the Senate race is the top of the ticket, our performance likely impacts the presidential and vice versa.
But I’ve won three tough elections, so I’m no stranger to responding to big moments in a campaign. In 2020, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away in September. In 2022, the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade.
Both of these moments — and the one we’re in now — had the potential to shift the future of our country. Our campaign will have to adapt, but that’s what we’re good at.
But we know that this news is also firing up the Republican base. And we need to not only match that enthusiasm but EXCEED it.
We have built a campaign that can win in November, but only with your continued support.
