Do you know how long it's been since the federal minimum wage was last increased?
15 years.
That's right. It's been 15 years since the federal minimum wage was last increased in 2009. But team: $7.25 per hour is simply not enough for working Americans to afford the increasing costs of housing, food, health care, and other basic necessities.
The minimum wage was created to protect workers and ensure livable wages, but right now millions of families, including thousands here in New Hampshire, are being left behind. That's why Chris has consistently voted to raise the federal minimum wage.
Increased wages would mean that Granite Staters – and all Americans – are able to keep up with the rising cost of living and would ensure that folks working full-time jobs aren't forced to pick up extra shifts or even second or third jobs just to be able to make ends meet.
