We've sent a number of fundraising emails since President Biden announced he would no longer be seeking reelection, so we thought it important to take a moment to explain where we're at, but also to talk about why these messages are so important.

First, it has been an unprecedented month in American politics and it has never been more important for Democrats to remain united in the cause of saving our democracy and advancing an agenda that improves the lives of working people in this country.

As you read this, almost every poll shows the presidential race will be close, the Senate is completely up for grabs and the House of Representatives is as well. At this point, just about anything can happen on election night.

At the same time, the Trump campaign and the RNC have raised extraordinary sums of money, Republican super PACs are running ads in almost every contested state, and we're sure the worst attacks are yet to come.

Back to these messages and why they are so important.

You know by now that the DNC is the one organization best positioned to move resources where they need them when they are needed. It is what we do.

But what you may not know is that there is no greater single source of donations making that possible than the response to emails like this.

So while you may not have opened this email expecting to donate, given the current reality and how effectively we can put your contribution to work, that is what we are asking you to do:

Can Democrats running for office everywhere count on you to contribute to the Democratic National Committee today? We would not ask if it were not so important.

Thank you in advance for donating today.
