Hi John,

I want to take a few minutes of your Wednesday to discuss an important priority of mine: public schools, teachers, and students.

In the middle of summer vacation, our public education system might not be the first thing on your mind — but I need to call it to your attention.

For years, Republican legislators have slashed funding for public schools and failed to pay teachers what they deserve. The result is that teachers are leaving our state in droves and schools may have to cut critical programs or staff positions that students rely on.

Meanwhile, GOP lawmakers and Mark Robinson are actually trying to give more taxpayer money to unaccountable private schools at public schools’ expense!

John, I don’t know about them, but I believe that public funds shouldn’t be siphoned away from public schools for private school voucher schemes...

Public school students deserve the highest quality education no matter where they live or how much their parents earn. That means we MUST fully fund our schools and give our teachers competitive salaries and necessary support, and I’ll work hard to do just that as North Carolina’s next governor.

If you agree on the importance of public education funding, I need you to add your name to my petition. Together, we will call on far-right legislators to set aside their partisan political priorities and put our kids first by fully funding our schools and giving our teachers a raise!
