Term limits are causing some of our biggest allies like Sen. Nancy Skinner to have to leave the Capitol this year – making it more urgent than ever that we elect more housing champions like Colin Parent and Jessica Caloza to continue the work.

I want to take a moment to introduce two of the housing champions California YIMBY is endorsing this year for the state legislature:

Colin Parent is a member of the La Mesa City Council and the executive director of Circulate San Diego, a nonprofit committed to public transit, walkable and safe neighborhoods, and affordable homes. He’s running in the 78th Assembly District in San Diego County and will bring plenty of experience to Sacramento as a housing champion, with strong support from our close partner, YIMBY Democrats of San Diego.

Jessica Caloza is a proud immigrant and a daughter of working class parents, running for the 52nd Assembly District in Los Angeles. She served as Attorney General Rob Bonta’s Deputy Chief of Staff and is running in part to tackle the state’s housing shortage and affordability crisis. She has strong community support, including from our partners at Abundant Housing LA.

Colin Parent and Jessica Caloza are just two of the 50 candidates we’ve endorsed for the state legislature this year. Many of them are incumbents who have a great track record of supporting the YIMBY agenda.

Our endorsements also include candidates running in crucial open seats against opponents who are not going to be bold housing champions – or might even be running against outright NIMBYs.

You know as well as we do that California is not a cheap place to run a campaign. By joining the Framers, you will be helping to provide our candidates with the resources they need to win.
