Dear John,

Just when we started to think that the political landscape couldn't get anymore unprecedented, President Biden announced on Sunday that he would be suspending his campaign for reelection.

This move by President Biden feels surprising and yet expected all at once. Amid the increasingly loud calls for him to step down from within his own party, some believed that the end of the Biden campaign was inevitable.

The president announced his decision, strangely, through a letter posted to X, formerly known as Twitter. According to some reports, numerous members of his own campaign were shocked and stunned by this decision, believing that the president intended to stay in the race until the very end.

President Biden has since endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, his running mate, for president, and she has solidified enough support from the necessary delegates to earn her party's nomination.

However, the president made it clear that his intention was to finish out the remainder of his term in office. Given the well-known concerns about President Biden's physical and mental health, many are concerned that these United States are currently without a fully engaged Commander-in-Chief.

These are unprecedented times.

While politicians and parties are scrambling to maintain a semblance of order and stability, we as the church of God shouldn't be unsettled. While we are to engage in politics, and influence it, our hope isn't in our political process. As Peter wrote, "Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ" (1 Peter 1:13).

We cannot give in to the spirit of fear that's dominating our current political landscape, nor should we be duped by the "God-talk" of certain political parties that are walking back biblical principles. If we remain firmly rooted in the word of God, then we won't be tossed about by every wave of political uncertainty.

We are the church. We cannot be spiritually or emotionally beholden to the twists and turns of the 24/7 social media and news cycle. We have to stand firm and be a light to the world. While others stumble about in spiritual darkness, our eyes must remain fixed on our savior and Lord. As Psalm 62:6 says, "He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken."

Times like these demonstrate the critical necessity of staying rooted in the Word of God as our sure foundation. That's why Family Research Council encourages and equips believers to find that scriptural foundation through our Stand on the Word daily Bible reading plan. To learn more, go to frc.org/bible.

In these unprecedented times, FRC is calling on likeminded Christians from across the country to humbly come before God and seek his face so that our nation will be healed.

Will you sign our pledge to pray?

Our goal is to gather thousands of commitments from across the country so that we can stand arm in arm together and pray for healing in this land and for many to come to Christ.

John, even when our political landscape is immensely unstable, and our world is ravaged by conflict, we can be still and know that God remains in control (Psa. 46:10). He said to us that if we come before Him, He will answer our prayers.

So please, join me and thousands of other likeminded believers in coming before God and interceding on behalf of the United States.

Standing (Eph. 6:13),

Tony Perkins
President

Our nation is in a vulnerable position both from a national security standpoint and from a spiritual standpoint. With wars continuing to rage across the globe, political leaders missing in action, and unprecedented political instability at home, followers of Christ need to be a source of stabilizing hope during this time of chaos.

We are living in very unsettled and turbulent times, but we take comfort in the fact that no matter who holds the reins of power that God remains on the throne. While some might be taken in by the "God-talk," of various political parties, we as the church remain true to the core values we find in scripture, and we will not compromise biblical truth.

Scriptures tells us that if the people of God pray and seek His face, that He will heal our land. Therefore, I, the undersigned, commit to praying for the security and stability of the United States of America, that our nation would return to God, and place its trust in Him. I, as a member of the church and the body of Christ, commit to being a shining light rooted in the word of God, and I am praying for other believers to remain focused on the Lord, and not be tossed about by the waves of political uncertainty as others are.

I pray that the Lord would use these unstable times to turn people to Him as the only sure and enduring foundation.
