April Chapter Meeting

We'll be hearing from our working groups about ways to get plugged into work during this time of social distancing, and our chapter chair, Councilman khalid will be hosting a Beyond Bernie panel of local activists & elected officials to discuss what's at stake in Georgia's June 2020 Primary.

Beyond Bernie Panel

Bernie Sanders may not be on the ballot this November, but there are a dozen other positions up for election that will have a profound impact on our daily lives. That's right — we're talking about local elections!

On Saturday, we will hear from a panel of activists & elected officials who will discuss some of the offices that will appear on your ballot and what it takes for Progressives to win local elections. 

These local positions include County Commissioners & Congresspeople who will decide policies for Affordable Housing, Reproductive Justice and Immigration policy; Judicial candidates who will decide who goes to jail and Sheriffs who will decide how they are treated; and State Representatives who will draw the voting maps we use for the next decade.   

The panel discussion will also be streaming publicly on Facebook Live, so if you can't join via Zoom, be sure to keep an eye out for the Live event on our chapter's Facebook page.
