Dear John,

I grew up in Detroit in the 1970s. In those days, Detroit was often called the “most dangerous city in America.”

But in some ways, it wasn’t as scary as the world that nearly every American child grows up in today. The online world that virtually every kid is exposed to—if not completely immersed in—is a cesspool of obscene material, bullying, destructive ideas and bad actors of every kind.

It’s outrageous that kids are able to use their phones or devices to essentially walk into an X-rated bookstore! And parents are crying out for help on how to navigate technology in this Internet-dependent world that is so threatening to their children’s well-being.

Can’t we do something? The answer is YES!

With your help, we are acting to protect kids and assist parents!

How Your Support Is Protecting Kids

Family Policy Alliance is leading a national coalition to pass state legislation to protect minors from online pornography. The approach is simple—require sites with pornographic material to use the latest technology to verify the age of users before allowing access.

This project to protect kids has taken off in a huge way!

Seven states passed this legislation in 2023, and nine more states—and counting—have followed suit in 2024!

And the results have been more immediate than we even imagined! The pornography industry—after losing early legislative battles—sued to stop the new laws. But courts have upheld the constitutionality of these age-verification laws.

Now, some major pornographers are choosing to simply shut down access to their sites in states with these laws!

That’s incredible, but it’s only a start.

I’m inviting you to join us in bringing these protections to all 50 states. Just imagine the impact when the porn industry has to abide by these laws nationally!

While the 16 states that have passed these laws so far are mostly conservative, we’re not stopping there. In fact, our team has already been in California twice this year to provide expert testimony and to lobby state legislators on a bill there. Despite strong pushback from the powerful pornography industry in California, the bill has passed every vote so far!

Perhaps most importantly, California legislators are finally acknowledging the threat that pornography poses to kids. That itself is a victory that cannot be overstated.

How Your Support Is Equipping Parents

But as we fight these legislative battles, parents need immediate help. That’s why our sister ministry, Family Policy Alliance Foundation, partnered with author and digital safety advocate Chris McKenna to bring parents

The Tech-Ready Family.

It’s an incredible online course that helps families create a healthy dynamic around technology. It also helps parents train children for responsible use, limit their screen time, use parental controls effectively and determine if underage users have been exposed to pornography (and what to do if so).

An Incredible Opportunity

As I said above, I’m inviting you to help us bring the age-verification protections to all 50 states. John, we have momentum on our side, and we must take advantage. Imagine the impact of keeping one child from stumbling into the devastation of a pornography addiction. Then multiply that by hundreds of thousands of kids around the country.

Your support will make possible:

Testifying in state legislatures

Leading our coalition of allied groups, legislators and expert witnesses

Providing in-person training for hundreds of leaders around the country

Ultimately, protecting kids from the ravages of online porn

And as a way of thanking you—and blessing your family—we are making The Tech-Ready Family (normally $199) available to you free of charge for a monthly gift of at least $10 or more or a one-time gift of $150 or more.

As you make a difference in kids’ lives around the country, you can (if you choose) also be blessed by this online course that is fun to watch and remarkably helpful for your family. I hope to hear from you!

For safe kids and thriving families,

Craig DeRoche
President & CEO
