By now, you’ve heard about Project 2025, the right-wing plan to remake the American government and turn it into a Christian nationalist state if Trump wins.

Birth control bans, mass deportations, disbanding the EPA and the Department of Education, censoring pornography, and rolling back protections for the LGBTQ+ community – these are just a few of Project 2025’s radical plans.

Despite hundreds of Trump connections, the Trump campaign has tried to distance itself from Project 2025. Trump has even tried to claim he knows nothing about it. 🙄

If it’s not totally obvious that Trump is lying, consider this: Project 2025 creator Kevin Roberts’ new book about taking over Washington is coming out in September – with a foreword from none other than Trump VP pick JD Vance:

You may remember author (and President of the Heritage Foundation) Kevin Roberts from his viral moment on Steve Bannon’s podcast. When talking about the goals of Project 2025, Roberts said: “We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be."

The backlash to Roberts’ alarming threat of right-wing violence is likely the reason the original title of the book was changed from “Burning Down Washington” to “Taking Back Washington.”

So the apocalyptic “Burning Down Washington” is gone, but JD Vance still echoed Roberts’ violence-tinged, revolutionary rhetoric in his glowing Amazon editorial review of the book:

“Never before has a figure with Roberts’s depth and stature within the American Right tried to articulate a genuinely new future for conservatism… We are now all realizing that it’s time to circle the wagons and load the muskets. In the fights that lay ahead, these ideas are an essential weapon.”
